While serving as an instructor on the B-24, “Dallas Lady”, Lt. Lancia was killed on September 12, 1944, when his bomber crashed into a mountain top in France. He is buried in the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky, near his childhood buddy, John Marsella.
